Americans Glad To Wear The Flag,

Nah. The key to America's patriotic fervor is simple,
converse shoes.
It's the five dollar T shirt.
Look around today; you'll see them everywhere. American flag tees pulled over damp bathing suits by the pool, stretched over bulging guts at the barbecue,
marc jacobs, lined up in a row along the parade route. And almost every one of them a star spangled bargain: $5 for adult sizes; $4 for kids and babies.
Who can resist,

The trend got rolling four years ago, when Old Navy decided to come out with a T shirt promotion for the Fourth of July. Old Navy's corporate image is built around family, fun, fashion,'' and a strong Independence Day tie in made sense, with its bright colors and family focus and nostalgic tinge.
The shirt came in one design back in 1997,
soccer jerseys, and they piled it on store shelves at five bucks, half the price of any other tee in the place.
At that price, they'd probably do a decent business if the shirts featured the Libyan flag. But with Old Glory in the silk screen, they were an instant phenom.
Phenom,'' of course, from the Latin for soon to be copied.''
The cheap flag tee has shown up in more and more store windows in the past few years. And this season, they're like 17 year locusts (without the crunching sound when you walk).
Target has 'em. Filene's has 'em. Kmart has 'em. So does Kohl's and The Children's Place and lots of other stores that will be mad they weren't mentioned by name. Most are good quality shirts,

reebok shoes, and almost all at the identical $5 price point.
And now it's not just T shirts. Some stores have entire Americana sections with the Stars and Stripes emblazoned on plastic cups and string lights and door wreaths and Frisbees.
At Old Navy, the selection has grown to five different T shirt designs (they add one a year), and more than 100 other Fourth of July items, from boxer shorts to flip flops to tote bags to dog leashes. Most are $5 or less.
Jori Jellison,
louboutin, an Old Navy spokeswoman, says it would be nice to give patriotism all the credit for the surge in red white and blue sales. But she offers a more basic pocketbook explanation.
Our items are really fashionable,'' she says.
And you just can't beat the price.''
Jellison said the store never imagined the shirts would sell so well. Just how well? On specifics,
hollister, the company adopts a loose lips sink ships policy.
I can't give you one single number but my phone number,
ray ban sunglasses,'' Jellison said, referring, I'm almost certain, to her work number.
But the value for retailers goes beyond the sales figures. The tees have a pretty thin profit margin, but they also work as loss leaders'' bargains that get you into a store on the assumption you'll walk out with more in your bag.
They also build customer loyalty year after year and often give stores free advertising, with millions of Yankee Doodles walking around with a store's name or logo on their chest.
