Brian M Clawson
I am so sorry shocked to hear of Brian's passing, tiffany's. Brian lived with my husband and i in our families beach house in the mid 70's. Brian and I commuted from Santa Cruz to the Silicon Valley every day listening to Loud rock and roll on his radio in that tiny little toy Honda. Whenever I hear Jimi Hendrix I always think of Brian. I think of him often and wondered if he got remarried and where life's adventures took him. Please tell Heidi and his family that our thoughts and prayers are with them.
Cheryl BassIn 1971,cheap michael kors, I was working for Varadyne Semiconductor, a small company in Cupertino. Varadyne was developing a state of the art 1K memory chip in a new technology called CMOS. Very important stuff. It was my second job in California since arriving here with my wife Helen and our six small children . My task was to design and build a tester for this chip. I would need help, so I asked my boss to hire a super tech to do the assembly and help debug this tester.
In the trade, a super tech is a guy with many years of both hardware and software experience and is familiar with a wide variety of test equipment. What my boss hired was a long haired, scruffy bearded 18 year old, just out of high school, who arrived wearing purple sneakers and a tie dyed shirt. Oh boy.
But he proved to be a very bright, rayban, talented, nike air, friendly, hard working guy, skillful with tools and a quick learner. He was easy to work with, had a wide range of interests and a keen sense of humor. Over the next months, we built the tester and got it working. More importantly we formed a friendship that has lasted for 43 years. He proved to be not only a super tech but a super person, and became like my younger brother, and an integral part of our extended family.
That very, very important tester served its function and was later thrown on a scrap heap and soon forgotten; the friendship endured.
In these early days, Brian and Liz joined our gang in trips to the beach and camping expeditions to Big Sur and Yosemite. In Yosemite, he made his famous corn fritters, showed off his boy scout skills with makeshift tents, climbed Half Dome, and braved the icy waters of the Tuolumne river. We explored the longer hiking trails, where he helped us scare off bears and took the hand of our small kids down the slippery granite staircase at Vernal Falls. A good time of life for us all.
He loved dogs. My favorite was Bruiser, a milk chocolate Chesapeake Bay Retriever, with strange yellow eyes. Brian would occasionally bring Bruiser along, so he could splash around in the Big Sur River and gallop about the beach. When it was time for a rest, Brian would tie Bruiser's leash to a large cooler to keep him from running about. A while later, we'd look up to find the dog and the cooler moving resolutely down the beach in pursuit of interesting dog adventures.
Brian liked a certain amount of risk in his adventures and was unfazed by complexity. At one time or another he took up sailing, bought his own boat,lulu.com, figured out how to sail it and invited us along for several happy but perilous journeys. He bravely tried skiing, tangling with the chair lifts then zipping down the hill at warp speed without any idea of how to stop. He was saved by a startling splash into a large puddle of icy water toward the bottom of the hill. Divine intervention: wet, freezing, but limbs intact. No problem.
He was courageous enough to try sky diving . Just once, he promised. Making it safely back to earth, salvatore ferragamo, he kissed the ground and kept his promise.
He took flying lessons and gained a pilot's license and embarked, vuitton handbags, not on a short jaunt, but a on cross country trip to Pennsylvania with a friend in a small plane in adverse conditions. One of the engines froze at high altitudes, but happily thawed and restarted as the plane returned to lower warmer air. No problem.
With each of these enthusiasms, he was eager to have us along for the ride to share the joy. So we sailed and skied together. Having survived a couple of the harrowing sailing adventures, I politely declined an airplane ride.
Music was a lifelong passion: he was a regular at Fillmore and Winterland, investigating the new bands and paying homage to his favorites. In his garage, mont blanc pens, he played electric guitar in the fuzzed out, Jimi Hendrix style and had a powerful Marshall amp, turned up to ELEVEN, nice and LOUD so his dad would be able to enjoy the sounds without leaving his living room easy chair.
He had a broad knowledge of music, be it rock, country, jazz or whatever, and introduced me to new artists who remain my favorites to this day. Over the years, we went to many local clubs when the good names played there (Vince Guaraldi, John Klemmer, jimmy choo shoes, Dave Brubeck and Mark Almond come to mind). But my most memorable event was just two years ago at Shoreline for Neil Young's annual Bridge Concert. There was an all star lineup that year and he invited me to join Heide, Dennis and himself. I eagerly agreed. The concert runs from 1pm to 9pm to allow enough time for all of the performers. That year it rained and we spent eight hours sitting on black plastic garbage bags on the grassy hillside in our storm gear enjoying the music and each other's company. Nirvana!
Brian always had that positive optimism that shone a bright light on every experience, nike free. Weather was never a consideration; a shared experience with good friends was the prize, louboutin pas cher.
A few years back, usa soccer jersey, Heide, Brian, Helen and I decided that an overnight backpacking trip to Molera Beach in Big Sur would be a terrific idea. This was the same beach where we had Brian's farewell party before he relocated to Seattle, so there is a certain shared fondness for it. We gathered all of our backpacking gear and departed San Jose in sunshine, passed through Monterey in fog and arrived at the Molera parking lot in the rain. No problem. No need to change our plans: Brian had black garbage bags that we could drape over our gear and make the 3 mile trek to the beach. There, gucci, we found a makeshift driftwood teepee. Perhaps a reasonable sunscreen but certainly not a rain proof shelter. Undaunted, we sat there for several hours talking, laughing and getting wet, but finally deciding that this would not be a good night to spend under the stars. We headed back to the River Inn and huddled around their great stone fireplace, where we drip dried and took nourishment.
Brian had a natural curiosity and enthusiasm about almost everything and the confidence and innate ability to get it all figured out in short time.
Brian also had the natural ability to draw people out and make friends quickly and solidly. With Brian, friendships never faded. He saw to that. He stayed in touch and invited you into his world. His expectation was that you would like him as well as he likes you. And he was right.
So our message from Brian is: Go fearlessly into the world with your eyes wide open so nothing is overlooked. Investigate, understand and savor what you find. Share your find and your joy will be doubled. Don't be afraid to be yourself. Wear purple sneakers if it moves you. And above all: Be kind to people be a friend forever.
Even though he is no longer amongst us, his spiritual presence remains and his influence on us is indelible. Off on yet another new adventure, louboutin shoes, Brian is meeting up with old friends and finally getting to meet Jimmy in person.
Save us all a seat, Brian, we'll join you shortly.

I worked with Brian or BC as I called him back in the 80's in Silicon Valley. We worked at 2 different companies together and had such a blast! He made my job easier by writing computer programs for me. He took me to my first Grateful Dead concert. I remember his huge dog named Bruiser and that he lived right behind the screen of a Drive in movie theatre. Brian was such a great friend and I was surprised and saddened by the news that he was gone. We kept in touch from time to time by email and I knew he was worried about his parents and some health issues his mom was having. It is hard on the parents when a child passes away before they do. God Bless You BC you are rocking heaven I just know it.
