Drug dealer busted at train station
A DRUG dealer who was caught in possession of 200,000 worth of diazepam was snared by a Police Community Support Officer on a routine cycle crime prevention patrol.
James Docherty, 52, of Renfrew,

Mr Sykes said: "I just couldn't believe how many tablets there were.
"I was on a routine cycle crime awareness patrol and I ended up stopping a dealer who was using the rail network to transport thousands of pounds worth of drugs,

While giving out cycle crime advice to passengers at the station, Mr Sykes came across two large unattended suitcases in the booking hall,

Concerned that Docherty had left his bags and wallet unattended,

Mr Sykes said: "He was frantically trying to put them back in again and I went up to him and asked him what they were. He just bluntly replied 'Temazepam',

"I asked him why he had them and he claimed to work for a pharmaceuticals factory and that he was taking them to be destroyed,

"I obviously didn't believe this account and so I detained him until a PC arrived and he was arrested.
"For me personally, it was a really rewarding job to have been involved with and it goes to show how varied the role can be. One minute you're handing out information about cycle crime and the next you've stopped a major drug dealer."
Docherty was charged with possession with intent to supply class C drugs and was remanded in custody. He pleaded guilty to the offence and,
