I had a stroke at age 30 and came back a better man,chi hair After finishing school, Kerrigan had worked in the local butcher's shop in Lucan before heading to Holland with the promise of a job on a construction site. "It was 1992 and everyone was either going to England or America to find work. That's just the way things were back then, ralph lauren," he says, recalling life before the Celtic Tiger. "I knew I didn't want to be a butcher and there was really nothing else for me in Ireland at the time." But after seven long months in Holland working as a roofer, michael kors bags, he quickly realised he was not cut out for the work and started to busk his way around Europe. "I was 19 and always had thoughts of doing something with music, but at that early age I didn't really know what I wanted," he says. "I was young and it was a great sense of adventure and freedom." After a three year stint of working the clubs and bars at night while busking during the day, and a couple of trips back and forth home to Ireland, he toured non stop from 1996 until 1999 in places such as Germany, converse outlet, Belgium, herve leger, Holland and Spain. The constant stream of gigs help build his experience and enabled him to write songs, develop his craft and grow in confidence as a live performer. "I used to always do 45 minutes of my own songs and that helped me build up a local fan base, rayban," says Kerrigan. "It also gave me the idea of,juicy couture, 'Hey, listen, longchamps, I can do this on my own with my own material'. I realised then that I didn't really need to be playing cover versions. I could survive playing my own stuff." When he met his wife to be in 2000,cheap true religion jeans, she joined him on his musical odyssey. "Our first year together was basically running around Europe with two rucksacks, lululemon, sleeping bags and guitars,louisvuitton.com," he says, smiling at the memory. "When we were staying in Belgium, for example, there was a subway station in Antwerp that had great acoustics. Myself and Dee would go down there at 11 o'clock in the morning and I'd start singing. By two o'clock, we'd have two bags of chocolates, burberry, a bottle of wine and a French loaf and our dinner for the day. It was pretty cool. "Then I'd play a gig in the evening, chanel sunglasses. It was enough to make a living from, nike air max. Those were great days, air jordan." With a bag full of songs and a longing to turn his years of touring into something more substantial, Kerrigan returned home to Dublin, recorded an album and was on the verge of releasing his debut record when disaster struck. "I woke up and the feeling was gone from down the left side of my body, coach factory outlet," he says recalling the horrific aftermath of the stroke. "I was just feeling numb. My speech was slurred and I had lost peripheral vision. I was about a month in hospital and they were doing every type of test on me MRAs and MRIs and the whole lot, you name it. "The doctors, to this day, still don't know what happened." But amid all the confusion surrounding what had triggered the stroke, ugg boots, one fact remained Kerrigan's dreams of a career in music were in tatters. "I just realised I couldn't play the guitar anymore, nba jerseys," he says with a chill in his voice at the memory. "I had lost all my co ordination. I wasn't even able to count." Thankfully, he can now look back with a laugh. "I used to have to go to physiotherapy over in Blanchardstown," he recalls, "and they were trying to get me to squeeze tennis balls. The physiotherapist asked me what I was doing at home. 'Well, I am trying to learn to play my guitar,' I told her. She was laughing, saying there's no point in coming to Blanchardstown to squeeze tennis balls if you are sitting at home trying to play guitar. It took me about two years to get my playing back, but I believe I came through it with so much practice I came out the other side a better guitar player." But while he was determined to overcome the physical effects of the stroke, asics running, the mental impact took an even more severe toll. "The physical side of the stroke is something I got my head around no problem," he says. "I always knew I would eventually be able to get back to full strength and recover. But it was the psychological damage that was more of a problem, you know. There was a lot of depression. "For about three years the doctors were trying me on every antidepressant known and each drug had its own side effects. They take about 14 days to get into your system, and what happens is you go down to your doctor and say you can't sleep on these ones and he gives you new ones, and it's just a vicious circle. I went through that for three or four years. To be honest, I really had to snap myself out of that with the help of Dee and my family. It was a big episode in my life." After coming full circle, he is now finally set to release his debut album, polo ralph, Uncivilised, nike mercurial, in February and has just launched Raining Monday Morning, the first single from the album. "It does give you a different perspective on life, ugg boots clearance," he says. "Coming through the stroke was an eye opener and I am now more grateful for the people I have around me. I am really pleased with the album. And I know if this had happened seven years ago, I wouldn't have had the conviction behind the songs. So even with all that has happened in the past, the north face, I know this is all happening for me at the right time." Kerrigan's experience has given him a new perspective on life and has brought him closer to the people who he cares for most. But when it comes to his music career, what are his hopes for the year ahead? "Success for me will be when someone is lying at home at 3am and thinking the world is coming down on their shoulders, and they listen to a few of my songs and realise they are not alone in the world" "That would be success for me. The album is about reaching out to people, beats headphones. There's a definite message there and I hope people get it.",uggs. coach outlet store all...al powdered peanut butter sac lancel electrolytes TriLyte With Flavor Packs nike air max 90 Covena...ether with homeless youth vans Glamour Ignited supra Butcher fined for selling old meat |
